Freeport
Chaplain Donald A. Swanson, 55, of Freeport, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Born February 26, 1957 in Winona, MN, he was the son of Reverend LaVern and Delores (Emery) Swanson. He married Laurie Hostvet on June 17, 1978.
Don was a licensed minister ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church.
He was the Director of Marketing, Planning and Pastoral Care for Freeport Health Network for 20 years. An avid speaker, writer, and listener, Don is remembered widely for his warm sense of humor and genuine compassion.
Don is survived by his wife, Laurie; his mother, Delores, both of Freeport; 2 daughters, Karissa Swanson of Denver, CO and Kendra Swanson of Freeport; 2 brothers, Dale (Barbara) Swanson of Oklahoma City, OK, and Elden (Pari) Swanson of Hutchison, MN; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Sheryl.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
An ecumenical worship service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Bethany United Church of Christ with Reverend Keith Johnson of First Lutheran Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
