Freeport – Donna J. Scofield, 93 of Freeport passed away at Liberty Village/Manor Court on May 18 ^th , 2022.  She was born on November 23, 1928 in Orangeville to the late Elery and Katherine (Maher) Miller.  After graduating high school she married, Donald G. Scofield on June 21, 1947 and together they raised a family. He passed away on September 2, 2017.

She worked as a cook at the Stephenson County jail for 16 years.  She loved going to church to be with her friends.  She also took a lot of pride in her cooking abilities.  Her black poodles brought her a lot of joy and she was an avid crafter.

Surviving her are her children, Dennis (Lynne) Scofield of Freeport; Diane (Michael) Samsel of Rockford.  Her sisters, Arlene (Dale) Geisel of Normal, IL and Doris (Gary) Keith of Freeport; her brother Robert Miller of Fairfield, IA. She is also survived by a grandson Tim (Kirsten) Scofield of Baltimore, MA and 1 great grandson Ty Scofield of Freeport.

Preceding her in death are her parents, sisters, Joyce Ross and Betty Busjahn and a grandson Terry Scofield.

A private burial will be held where she will be laid to rest next to Donald.  A memorial has been established in her name for the Friends Forever Humane Society of Freeport.
