Rockford: Doreen J. Morton, 90 formerly of Freeport died Sunday November 23, 2008 at Wesley Willows in Rockford. Born March 27, 1918 in Racine, Wis. she was the daughter of Jack C. and Ann (Amos) Morton. Doreen graduated from Freeport Senior High School in 1937 and worked for Micro Switch for 40 years retiring in 1979. She attended Park Hills Evangelical Free Church and was an avid golfer and also enjoyed traveling and bowling. Surviving are her three brothers, John (Joan) Morton of Loves Park, Robert (Donna) Morton of Freeport, Douglas Morton of Lansing, MI. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother George, and one sister, Betty Piefer. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Mark Balmer from Park Hills Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service at Walker Mortuary. A memorial has been established.
