Obituary

Doris V. Brinkmeier, 95, of Freeport died Tuesday January 24, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph Home. Born October 24, 1916 in Stephenson County she was the daughter of Herman and Agnes (Springman) George. She married Clarence Brinkmeier in 1959 and he preceded her in death in 2002. For nearly 30 years she worked for the Crum and Forester Insurance Company having a perfect attendance record. Doris's memberships included St. John Lutheran Church in Pearl City, Eastern Star, ABWA, Priscilla Club, Mary Martha Circle, Freeport Insurance Woman's Group, American Legion Auxiliary, lifetime member of W.M.S.U.L.C.A. and RHN holding offices in all during her lifetime. Doris enjoyed life and was full of energy and fun. Until she could no longer see and a twice broken hip made it necessary to leave her home, she loved dining out with friends and had her favorite places for any time of day. She loved to sing and always had a smile and a laugh to share. During her seven years at Provena, she would often sing her many little ditties to the great enjoyment of her loving caregivers.
Surviving are 5 nephews, Gerald (Ann) George of Virginia, John (Nancy) George of Indiana, William (Judy) George of Freeport, Kenneth George of Freeport, Richard George of Lincoln; 5 nieces Dorothy Bennis of CA, Judy Parsons of Lincoln, Shirley Johnson of Durand, Carolyn Smith of Rushville; Gail George of Batavia; 35 great-nieces and nephews and numerous great-greats.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Clarence, 2 brothers Karl, Ralph George, one sister Ruth Rees and one niece Evelyn George Madigan.
