Freeport: Doris M. Degner, 92 of Freeport died Tuesday May, 4, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital surround by her loving family. Born September 6, 1917 she was the daughter of Charles H. and Hattie M. (Farringer) Fishburn. On February 26, 1940 she married Harold Klontz and he passed away on March 4, 1942. She married Dale Bell in July 2, 1953 and he died on March 29, 1962, she then married Herbert F. Degner December 28, 1974 in Cedarville. Doris was a graduate of Freeport High School in 1936, she was a former employee of Burgess Battery for 10 years, St. Francis Hospital for two years, and Micro Switch for 11 years retiring in 1975. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. and also the senior Choir of the Church.. Doris enjoyed gardening and especially her flower garden. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to the south west and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris is survived by her husband, Herbert of Freeport; Five step children, Duane Bell of Florida, Karen Bell Briggs of Rock Grove, Jeanette Loomis of Warren, Richard Degner of Pecatonica Laureen Blackshear of Mayfield, KY; Three grandchildren, Jacquelynn (Andy) Dominick of Orangeville, Richard Schramm of Freeport and Doris Mighell of Green Bay, WI; Numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; Son-in-law, Jack (Bonnie) Schramm of Florida; Sister-in-law, Lillian Fishburn of Edwardsville, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, daughter, Sharon Klontz Schramm, two brother's, Clarence Fishburn and Robert Fishburn, two sisters, Mildred Fishburn and infant Ruth Fishburn and one great grandchild Nicholas John Schramm. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday May 7, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Reverend Julie Bunt officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12 Noon until the time of service at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial has been established.
