Doris E. Schubert, 88, of Freeport, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Manor Court.
Born October 7, 1927 in Carroll, County, Illinois she was the daughter of Laurence and Grace (Downing) Getz. She married Melvin G. Schubert March 17, 1946 in Mount Carroll and he died November 24, 2014 in Freeport.
Doris worked at Micro Switch from1960 until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Freeport, Illinois. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening, crocheting, photography, collecting bells, and making rag rugs.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth (Bill) Kline of Greer, SC, Janice (Creig) Timm of Hollandale, Wisconsin; her sons, Ben (Faye) Schubert of Hollister, MO, Kelvin (Ruth) Schubert of Juneau, Alaska and John (Janet) Schubert of Freeport; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her sisters, Marilyn Becker of Mt. Carroll and Florence Sisler of Elgin; her brother, Leroy (Hazel) Getz of Savanna, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; and her sister, Marcia Hessenius.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 First Baptist Church, 413 West Empire St., Freeport, Illinois. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
A memorial has been established for First Baptist Church Freeport, Illinois.
