FREEPORT
Doris May (Diddens) Shain passed away at the home of her daughter Colleen Geary in Pleasant Plains, Illinois. She was born in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of Henry, Sr. and Blanche (Bloyer) Diddens.
Doris is survived by daughters Colleen Geary, Pleasant Plains, Il and Sally Van Horn, Sauk City, WI; son Dr. Michael Shain, Omaha, NE; sisters Marion Myers, Helen Winters, and Polly Diddens (sister-in-law), all of Freeport, Il; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Darryl Shain (1994); sister Lois; and brothers Donald, Henry Jr., Raymond, George and Wayne.
Doris attended Freeport High School, and worked at Burgess Battery Company and Freeport Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, camping, needlework, crafts and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Monday, January 23rd at Walker Mortuary, 321 W. Main St., from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at Walker Mortuary on Tuesday, January 24th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, Illinois. A luncheon will follow at Trinity Unity Methodist Church, 2600 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Il.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Trinity Unity Methodist Church, and St. John's Hospice, Springfield, Il, for the loving care shown to her during the months of her life.
