On Monday, December 1, 2014, Doris passed peacefully from her home to eternal life with Christ her Savior. Doris was born on June 18, 1929 to Mervin and Iona (Shelly) Gramley. She grew up in Lancaster Township and graduated from Dakota High School. She had a heart to serve others. After high school, Doris attended and graduated from nursing school. Her clinicals were at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. On receiving her RN license she served with Dr. Zipf in his practice at Freeport. On September 15, 1951 she married Dale Weber at the Freeport Mennonite Church. Together they farmed in Lancaster Township for 41 years before retiring in 1992. After "retirement" from farming, Doris returned to nursing in the Freeport Health Network. She loved the many relationships she built through her home nursing visits. She was an active member of the Freeport Mennonite Church where she served as an elder. In teaching roles at Sunday School and Summer Bible School she shared her faith in God. Doris is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dale Weber of Dakota; two sons, LaVerne (Susan) Weber of Elgin, IL and Merlin (Barb) Weber of Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Iona (Shelly) Gramley, and two sisters, Bernice Cooke and Mary Zettle. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota. A memorial service to celebrate Doris's life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Freeport Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Freeport Mennonite Church Canning Project or Freeport Pregnancy Center.
