Monroe, WI: Dorothy M. Askov, 95, died Monday March 17, 2008 at Harbor House in Monroe, WI where she had been a resident for 14 years. Born June 11, 1912 in Redfield, SD. She was the daughter of George and Ella (Plackett) Hopkins. On July 23, 1938 she married Howard Askov in Millbank, SD. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1977. Dorothy attended the University of South Dakota and was a former member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Madison, WI. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she had a passion for sewing and a very special love for her cats. Surviving are her daughter Laurie (Charles) Standring of Freeport; son Warren (Eunice) Askov of State College, PA; 4 grandchildren, Jeff (Alison) Standring of Fredericksburg, VA, Amy (Aaron) Drog of Rockford, IL, David (Eugenia) Askov of Maui, HI and Karen (Jilani) Zeribi of Bellevue, WA; 7 great grandchildren, Steven Dirienzo, Joshua and Nathan Drog, Jossue and Julian Askov, Teja and Kamil Zeribi. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 1 sister. A graveside service and burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Vienna Cemetery on Waunakee, WI. with the Reverend Jonathan Singleton officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, Freeport. A memorial as been established for Alzheimer's Research.
