Dorothy A. DeBoer, 97, of Freeport, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born December 3, 1911 in Freeport she was the daughter of Louis and Martha (Fernau) Wittbecker. She married Jake DeBoer December 3, 1932 and he died January 22, 1979.
Dorothy worked at Arcade Manufacturing 11 years and then 20 years helping her husband at DeBoer Brothers Greenhouse.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
Surviving are 1 son, Marvin (Sandy) DeBoer of Apple Canyon Lake; 3 grandchildren, Kelly (Dale) Priewe and Michael DeBoer both of Freeport, Kristine (Jon) Vick of Lena; 6 great grandchildren, James, Thomas, Jacob, and Sarah Priewe, Kyle and Kelsey Vick; 1 great great grandson, Hunter Vick; her niece, Rita Wittbecker and her sister-in-law, Viola Hall both of Freeport; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Monday 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
