Freeport- Dorothy J. Dodson, 66, of Freeport, died Saturday, January 10, 2004, at the Freeport Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Born September 17, 1937 in Freeport she was the daughter of Willard "Shorty" and Emma (Waller) Burright. She married William Dodson December 23, 1967 in Chicago and he died May 19, 1999.
Before her marriage she worked at the University of Illinois in Champaign and then after her marriage she worked 10 years at the Freeport Journal Standard.
She was a member of the Freeport Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen Dodson; one son, Mark (Kara) Dodson; two grandchildren, Korinne and Wade Dodson all of Freeport; one sister in-law, Shirley Burright of Vestal, New York; one niece, Lisa (Roger) Richards of Endwell, New York; one nephew, Scott Burright of Pennsylvania; one great nephew, Zachary Burright of Pennsylvania; and her loving puppy, Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Keith; one Brother, Richard.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Don Jamerson of First Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
