Freeport – Dorothy E. Schlueter, 100 years young passed away on September 7, 2025 at Liberty Village Manor Court. She was born on December 9, 1924 to Henry C. and Clara (Schradermeier) Schlueter.
She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for 30+ years. She also was a part of the women's fellowship at St. Paul Epleyanna Church since age 18. Dorothy loved to garden, drive tractor, raise chickens and sheep when she was a young girl. She was a charter member of the Rock Run Historical Society, the Stephenson County Farm Bureau and she sang in the church choir too.
She is survived by many cousins including, Leanne (Laverne) Reidelbaugh of Marshall, WI; Ryan (KaLeigh) Reidelbaugh of Waunakee, WI and their children Remmie and Reagan; Kyle Reidelbaugh of Marshall, WI; Joel (Bev) Scheider of rural Freeport; Neal Scheider of Lena, IL; Nancy Schutte of Footville, WI and her daughter, Cora Schutte of Whitewater, WI; Donald Schlueter of Rock City, IL; Sarah Holweg of Rock City, IL and her children, Brian (Kelli) Holweg of Ridott, IL; Andrea Holweg of Rockford, IL; Angela McLaurin of Beloit, WI; Mary (Matt) Rhoades of Rockford; Cherie (John Queen) Holweg of Monroe, WI; Todd (Tammy) Hoeft of Freeport; Nicholas Hoeft; Sue (Casey) Grimm of Jefferson, WI; Douglas Wegener; Steve Battalio of Virginia; Mary Beth (Jon) Battalio of Elgin, IL ; Steve Battalio and many additional cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Alvin and Myron Schlueter; cousins, Harold (Nellie) Schlueter; Milton (June) Schlueter, Sallie (Rick) Battalio; Alice (Duane) Scheider; Arlene (Karl) Erickson and Chester (Dorothy) Miller.
There will be a visitation on Friday, September 12, 2025 beginning at 10am at St. Paul Epleyanna Church of Davis with a service to immediately follow at 11am. Her final resting place will be at the church cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name at St Paul Church of Epleyanna. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com . The Daughenbaugh Funeral Home of Dakota, IL is assisting the family.
