Dorothy J. Schneider, 87, of Freeport, died Friday, January 23, 2015, at Presence St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born September 17, 1927 in Aeonian, Illinois she was the daughter of Marius and Meta (Matthes) Mathis. She married Wilbur R. Schneider December 26, 1948 and he died January 6, 1998.
Dorothy taught at rural schools in Tampico, Hoopla, and McConnell. For 10 years she was a book keeper for Spinhirne Hardware in Winslow and for 23 years as office manager for Bauch Eversoft Soft Water in Freeport retiring in 1983.
She was a charter member American Legion Auxiliary Stewart-Schneider Post 592 in Winslow. She was life member Ladies Auxiliary to Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 998. She was a member Women of Moose Freeport Chapter, 548.
Surviving are her son, Keith Wyman; grandchildren, Hope (Wayne) Martin Jr., and Walter Allen (Patty) Wyman all of Monroe, Wisconsin; great grandchildren, Emily, Nicole, and Jase Wyman, Skylar Martin, Kailey Wyman, Simone Martin, and Dezaray Martin all of Monroe, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, LaVerne (Ilene) Schneider of Lena.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Penny, brother, Bob and grandson, Keith Allen Wyman, Jr.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Walker Mortuary.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at Walker Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
