Freeport – Dorothy M. Schwarze, 94 of Freeport passed away at Parkview Home on August 3, 2022.  She was born July 22, 1928 in Columbus Junction, Iowa to the late Frank and Harriet (Howell) Moore.  She married Paul H. Schwarze on October 17, 1953 in Columbus Junction, Iowa and together they raised a family.  He died on January 9, 2003.  After graduating high school she attended Nurses training in Chicago and received her degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.

Dorothy was a very giving, caring and social person. This was shown most in her life as a Lifetime Missionary with Go-Ye Fellowship.  She spent 32 years in Indonesia as a missionary serving the Dayak people.  She loved genealogy, bingo, games like Mexican train, Rummikub, cards and Scrabble.  She also enjoyed puzzles and religious music, social events, reading fiction books, newspapers, magazines and historical novels.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Judy) Schwarze of Camano Island, WA; Steve (Rhonda) Schwarze of MN; Ruth (Keith) Miche of Pearl City; and  Mark (Deborah) Schwarze of Rock City, Il.  Her legacy also includes 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 more great grandchildren that are 'on their way'.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers, (Lyle. Burdette and Charles Moore)

1 sister, Margery Moore and 1 great grandson, Kenny Schwarze.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022 at Walker Mortuary from 4-7pm.  A service will follow the next morning, August 11th at 10:30am at First Baptist Church of Freeport on Empire Street.  Her final resting place will be next to her husband at North Grove Church cemetery in Forreston.  A memorial has been established in her name.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
