Obituary

Edith E. Riley, age 86 of Freeport, IL, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford. She was born August 6, 1930 in Shannon, IL; the daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Schiley) Erdmier. She graduated from Shannon High School. Edith married Robert Riley on November 7, 1953; he passed on January 10, 2009.
She was a member of Park Hill Evangelical Church of Freeport. She was also a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She volunteered at Lincoln Douglas School and at Freeport Memorial Hospital for many years. Edith enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and traveling with her husband and sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Iris) Riley of Freeport and Bob (Marlene) Riley Jr. of Orlando, FL; daughters, Pamela (Curt) Blasy of Sioux Falls, SD and Vicki (Paul) Smith of Marquette, MI; grandchildren: Scott & Chip; Ken & Matt; Chad, Shawn, & Tera; Holly, Heather, & Brian; and Jim "Jas" & Donald; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Florence Erdmier of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Brian; daughter, Marcy; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters.
A visitation will be held Sunday, May 21st from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be Monday, May 22nd at 1:00 pm at Park Hills Evangelical Church in Freeport. Interment will take place at Sliver Creek Cemetery in Mt. Morris, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Anthony's Palliative Care.
