Edna M. Carlino, age 84 of Freeport, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the University of Wisconsin Madison Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born May 15, 1932 in Freeport; the daughter of the late Ben and Gertrude (Fransen) Julius. She was a 1949 graduate of Freeport High School. Edna married Francis Carlino on September 26, 1958.

Edna was a former member of 1st Lutheran Church in Freeport. Her memberships also include the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club. Together, Edna and Francis enjoyed traveling and boating. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and sewing, including making prom and wedding dresses for her daughters.

She is survived by her husband, Francis of Freeport; daughters, Julie (Tom) Behan of Sabula, IA, Peggy (John) Smith of Mt. Carroll, IL, and Teresa (Mike) John of Fort Worth, TX; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Gwendolyn Runte; sisters, Gretchen Maize and Dena Julius; and brother, Harold Julius.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00 am at Walker Mortuary in Freeport with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
