Edward R. Rawson, 97, of Freeport, died peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at his home.
Born December 20, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin he was the son of Edward and Anna (Schultz) Rawson. He married Jacqueline Gerken September 12, 1942 and she preceded him in death.
Edward received his B.S. Degree from the University of Wisconsin and his Master's Degree from the University of Illinois.
A Mechanical Engineer Ed worked at Burgess Battery and Micro Switch. He did part time teaching at Rockford College and Highland Community College. Eventually he became a full time instructor at Highland and taught for 15 years until his retirement.
Surviving are his children, Jim (Bonnie) Rawson of Naples, Florida, Ron (Bonnie) Rawson of Ft. Meyers, Florida, and Pam (Steven) Holder of Freeport; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 children, Penny and Greg Rawson.
Funeral service and burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday 10 a.m. until time of service in the Chapel of Peace.
A memorial has been established for the Highland Community College Scholarship Fund.
