Edward D. Gerloff, 83, of Freeport, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born January 5, 1933 in Freeport he was the son of William and Elizabeth (Heeckelsmiller) Gerloff. He married Josephine Janicke July 14, 1979.
Ed worked for Gills Disposal, Kelly Springfield Tire, and Stephenson Hotel.
A U.S. Korean Veteran he enjoyed going to garage sales. Turtle hunting, and fishing with his wife.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine of Freeport; his son, Ricky Gerloff of Menard; his step-children, Brenda (Charles) Boland of Freeport, James Schmelzer of Freeport, and Russell Ditsworth of Taylorville; his brother, Gerald Gerloff of Freeport; and his sister, Betty Huenefeld of Adeline; 4 step grandchildren, Jace, Destiny, Sierra, and Chris; 1 step great grandchild, Chasity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 at Walker Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday 10 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
