Edward Long, age 81 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Saturday, November 8, 2025. He was born August 18, 1944 in Dixon, IL and was raised by Benjamin and Zona Siegel. He was a graduate of Warren High School in Warren, IL. Edward married Sharon Kaiser on November 29, 1968; she passed away on October 31, 1995. He married Connie Pollen on September 17, 1996.

Edward served in the United States Army from 1964 - 1969. He was a member of VietNow and of First Lutheran Church in Freeport. He worked at Honeywell for 30 years and served on the Freeport Police Auxiliary. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, vacationing and camping. He loved being outdoors and feeding birds and squirrels.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Long of Freeport; daughters Melissa Little of Clinton, IA and Amy (Scott Maas) Long of Freeport; step-daughters, Stephanie Wagner and Susan Wagner both of Freeport; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sharon.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Freeport with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
