Edward J. Pfeiffer Jr.
Edward "Mr. Clean" Pfeiffer, 83, of Forreston (formerly of Freeport) passed away on February 29, 2008 at his daughter's home.
He was born September 9, 1924 in Freeport, the son of Edward Sr. & Alice (Yoder) Pfeiffer. He married Marion Howard on February 13, 1943 in Kahoka, Missouri. She died October 14, 1997.
He was in the U.S. Marine Corp. for a short period of time, and was released on an honorary medical discharge.
He was employed by Rockford Blacktop as a heavy equipment operator for 29 years and was a lifelong member of Local 150 Union. He retired in 1991. He enjoyed being with his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by one son, Gary (Pam) Pfeiffer of Freeport, two daughters, Kathie (Tim) Haubach of Lena, and Jody (Jesse) Akins of Forreston; fifteen grandchildren, Tammy (Todd) Hoeft, Kevin Pfeiffer, Nikki (Chuck) Krautblatt, Bill (Shiloh) Pfeiffer, Chris Haubach, Cheri Houck, Alicia Haubach, Kenny Calhoun, Jamie (Dawn) Campbell, Shayne (Melissa) Campbell, Jim (Susan) Akins, Jeremiah (Rachel) Akins, Shane (Bambi) Akins, Brandi Akins, Heather Shuman; twenty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Tony (MaryAnn) Pfeiffer of Freeport, two sisters, Sylvia (Butch) Wurster of McConnell, and Molly Heinrich of Freeport; many nieces and nephews.
Special caregivers included; Donna Herring, Dawn Campbell, Skyler Rettenmeier, and Mary Howard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers, one sister, and three grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Monday 3:00 pm at Walker Mortuary.
Visitation will be Monday 1:00 pm until the time of service at the Mortuary. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
