Elizabeth Marie Sorn, age 64 of Rock City, IL, passed away on April 19, 2024 at her home. Elizabeth was born on February 17, 1960 in Freeport, IL to Reginald and Eudocia (Crull) Goeke. She graduated from Dakota High School in 1978 where she was on the basketball and track team, and still holds the school record for the 800 meter run. She married Tom Sorn on August 18, 1979 in Dakota, IL.

Elizabeth was a familiar face in the community through her work at the State Bank of Davis. She was a talented seamstress. She had a strong faith in God and was a lifelong member of the Dakota Community Presbyterian Church where she held many positions over the years including organist/pianist. She was an avid gardener and took joy in her active backyard bird community. She was active in her children and grandchildren's lives, a faithful presence at every performance, graduation, game, and track meet.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nola Woessner. She is survived by her husband; three children Amy (Roman) Salamon, Becky (Curt) Brown, and Zach (Brittany) Sorn; siblings Kathy (Larry) Callahan, Andy (Joan) Goeke, Mark (Mary) Goeke, Dave (Val) Goeke, Evie (Jack) Lister, Jim (Lori) Goeke, and Paul (Lisa) Goeke; grandchildren Meghan, Ryan, and Joshua Salamon, Darren and Allison Brown, and Everest Sorn; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on April 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Dakota Community Presbyterian Church, with funeral at 11 a.m. with luncheon to follow. Elizabeth's family is being assisted by the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home of Dakota, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the National Audubon Society or Northern Illinois Hospice.
