Ellen R. Gordon, age 85, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Walnut Acres in Freeport, IL. She was born November 12, 1935 in Husum, Germany; the daughter of the late Leo and Annie (Robinson) Brodnicki. Ellen and James Gordon were united in marriage on September 4, 1954 in Pleasant Valley Township in Stockton, IL. They were married for 59 years.

She worked for MicroSwitch for 23 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Freeport, the Eagles 679, and the Moose Lodge. Ellen enjoyed dancing (polka), knitting, watching cooking shows and watching the cubs with her husband.

She is survived by her daughters, Ingrid (Dennis) Wolbers of Lanark, IL and Penny (Michael) Omlvedt of Albuquerque, NM; 8 grandchildren, Nathan Wolbers, Amber Deemer, Celeste Long, Katie Bunch, Jason Omtvedt, Aprile Green, Ted Williams, and Lacey Mason; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; brothers, Rainer (Molly) Brodnicki and Harvey Robinson; and brother-in-law, Donald Gordon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; step-father, Walter Robinson; step-daughter, Jeannie Williams; sister-in-laws, Mary Bowers, Jean Wilson, and Barb Gordon.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com .
