Elmer E. Zettle, 74, of Freeport, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at his home.
Born March 23, 1937 in Freeport he was the son of Fred and Ruth (Miller) Zettle. He married Dixie Bender March 27, 1960.
He was a Korean War Marine Veteran.
Elmer was an Active duty 20 year Air Force Veteran; he then worked for Ache Trucking, John Knoble & Son, and worked 17 years at Micro Switch until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie of Freeport; 2 daughters, Diana (William) Schmelzer and Wanda Zettle both of Freeport; 3 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; and 1 great grandson.
Preceded in death by parents; 1 son, Scott 2 brothers; 3 sisters
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 26, 2011, 2 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Visitation will be Tuesday 12 noon until time of service.
Following the funeral service cremation rites will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
