Freeport-Elsie L. Boelkes, 75 of Freeport, died Tuesday July 18, 2006, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born December 17, 1930 in Freeport she was the daughter of Earl and Stella (Brydson) Knox.
Elsie worked at Burgess Battery, Package Production, and then Micro Switch until her retirement.
An avid bingo player, Elsie loved to shop and was always available to go out for Breakfast, Lunch, or dinner.
Surviving are her daughters, Cherie (Randy) Heitz of Freeport and Crystal (William) Geerts of Pecatonica; her sister, Joyce Shade of Freeport; brothers, James (Marjorie) Meinders of Freeport and Walter "Butch" (Jolene Obright) Meinders Jr. of Shannon; her grandchildren, Erin (Jeremy) Crase of Freeport, Mark (Kimberly) Heitz of Okalahoma City, Okalahoma, Eric (Stephanie) Geerts of Winnebago, and Adam (Emily) Geerts of Chicago; her great great grandchildren, Nakiah (Ky) Crase and Haley Crase.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Walter Meinders Sr.; and her step sister, Marian Sjoberg.
Funeral service will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Douglas Q. Bowden of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for Stephenson County Senior Center.
