Elsie M. Schoop, age 104, died on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Manor Court in Freeport, Illinois.  She was born on April 21, 1919 in New York Mills, Minnesota, daughter of Ida (Berg) and Andrew Nara.  She graduated from New York Mills, Minnesota High School in 1936 and then graduated from the Minnesota School of Business, Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1939.  She was employed as a secretary in Minneapolis and Cleveland, Ohio for several years.

On October 19, 1946 she married Rudolph School.  He died on November 28, 1983.

She was employed by Herrling and Schmitt INc. (Williams - Manny Inc) for 36.5 years.  She was interested in aviation, fishing, sports, gardening, playing cards, crosswords, and sudoku.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Freeport as well as The Scottish Rite Women's Club of Freeport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and five brothers.  She is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great and great great nieces and nephews.  A memorial has been designated for the First Lutheran Church of Freeport.

There will be a service held on Thursday, August 3rd at 11am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Chapel Of Peace with Pastor Keith Johnson officiating.  A time of fellowship will be held afterwards at the First Lutheran Church with a light lunch.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
