Emma A. Folgate, 77, of Freeport, passed away, Monday, February 20, 2012 at her home.
Born January 12, 1935 in Freeport she was the daughter of Louis and Grace (Baker) Marassa. She married Sherman H. L. Folgate February 14, 1953 and he passed away October 18, 2011.
Emma worked at Newell Companies for 38 years retiring as Director of Company Trade Functions.
Her memberships included White Shrine of Jerusalem, White Shrine Capernaum #4, Order of Eastern star # 303, and Scottish Rite Woman's Club.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Cynthia (special friend, Edward Raab) Sorn of Freeport; 1 son, Barry (Victoria) Folgate Sr. of Freeport; 3 sisters, Gracie Roemer-McKee of Sauk City, Wisconsin, Sylvia (Allen) Gillette of Freeport, and Linda (Richard) Simler of Silver Spring, Florida; 1 brother, Joseph (Bernice) Marassa of Freeport; 5 grandchildren, Michael (Melani) Guentherman of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, Desiree (Brian) Ingram of Bedford, Virginia, Anna Marie (special friend, Sarah Todd) Folgate of Freeport, Amy Louise (Dan) Fager of Forreston, and Barry Lee (Angela) Folgate Jr. of Freeport; 6 great grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Guentherman, Andrea Ingram, Leah Folgate, Bradlee Fager, and Harlan Folgate.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Walker Mortuary where at 7 p.m. there will be a funeral service.
Following the service cremation rites will be accorded and her cremated remains will be buried in the Silent Hill Cemetery, McConnell, Illinois
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Masonic Lodge Eastern Star #303.
