Erma Colleen Kostenbader, 76, of Freeport, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at The Grove of La Grange Park in La Grange Park.
Born August 21, 1937 in Seward, Nebraska she was the daughter of Lawrence A. and Pauline J. (Gruber) Sears. She married Robert Dale Kostenbader Sr. May 29, 1981 and he preceded her in death.
Erma was a Registered Nurse retiring from Freeport Manor Nursing Home.
Surviving are her daughters, Patti M. (Steven) Johansen of Lisle and Peggy C. (Andy) Mellentine of Pearl City; her son, Michael W. (Angelia) Conroy of Freeport; five stepchildren; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Hamilton of Chico, CA; her first husband Wayne Conroy of Freeport; two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Charlotte Baade and her great aunt, Charlotte Gruber who raised her as a child.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established.
