Freeport: Ethel J. Karstedt, 80, of Freeport died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Born June 30, 1925 in Evansville, WI she was the daughter of Gilbert and Emma (Brunsell) Odegaard. On July 27, 1946 she married Kenneth Karstedt in Cooksville, WI. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2006.
Ethel taught school and then worked at Arlan's Department store for 10 years.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her two daughters, Victoria (Dennis) Borger of Deerfield, WI and Penny (Charles) Harris, of Pensacola, FL; five granddaughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Eggen of Thailand, Christin Rowe, Stacy (Kelly) Carlson, and Angela Harris all of Pensacola, FL and Amy (Nathan) Brown of Amelia, OH; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers Peter and Norman Odegaard; four sisters, Helen Odegaard, Alice and Gerda Thompson, Bertha Roe; and one granddaughter.
Funeral service will be Monday 10 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg and Vicar David Daniel of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport.
Visitation will be Monday 9 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
