Obituary

Los Angeles, CA: Eugene S. Brobst, 87, Formerly of Freeport died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Marina Del Rey Hospital in Los Angeles California. Born September 20, 1921 in St. Paul, Minn. He was the son of Clarence and Georgia (Smith) Brobst. On June 21, 1947 he married Eileen Marie Trapp at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Freeport. A graduate of Freeport Senior High School, he attended William and Mary College in Williamsburg, VA for Engineering and also Los Angeles Metropolitan School of Business, Real Estate Law I and Law II. While in Freeport Eugene worked at Crum & Forester and Economy Fire and Casualty, and in California he worked as a computer analyst for the Richfield Oil Company for several years and then worked for Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan until retiring in 1985. Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a Master Mason with the Evergreen Masonic Lodge #170, and a past member of Embury United Methodist Church. Surviving is his Wife, Eileen; ½ sister Charlene (Chris) Kubatzke of Freeport; Sister-In-Law, Marian (Donald) Kronberg of Freeport; Brother-In-Law's wife, LaVonne Trapp of Freeport; 4 Nieces, Crystal (Jean) Freeman of Lavaca, AK, Connie (David) Talbert of Freeport, Mary Jo (Tim) Mellentine of Freeport, and Susan (Jim) Brannick of Freeport; 7 Nephews, Chris (Val) Kubatzke of Freeport, Charles (Karen) Kubatzke of Charleston, AK, Craig (Wendy) Kubatzke of Freeport, Kevin (Danette) Kronberg of Peoria, AZ, Ronald (Jennifer) Trapp of Bowig, MD, John (Angie) Trapp of Glen Allen, VA and Michael (Cindy) Trapp of Rowlett, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Step Father, Fred Schoeffler, Step Mother, Alice Brobst, and brother-in-law, Harold Trapp and several Aunts and Uncles. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Peace in Oakland Cemetery with the Reverend Jonathan Singleton of Embury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport. A memorial has been established.
