Dakota – Fairie J. (Germain) Rockey, originally of Dakota passed away peacefully at Parkview Home in Freeport on Tuesday, June 7 2022. She was born on July 13, 1922 to the late Guy and Edna (Niblo) Germain. She graduated from Dakota High School in 1940. On October 18, 1941, she married Eldon A. Rockey in Kahoka, MO. He passed away on December 22, 1968.
Fairie was employed at the Dakota Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1987. She started in the cafeteria, was secretary in the elementary and high school offices, and ended her career as bookkeeper for the district. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport, a charter member of the Rock Run Home Extension Club, and member of the Women's Association at her church. She married Loris L. Long on April 15, 1996 in Phoenix, AZ and he passed away on June 15, 1996. Fairie loved God, her family and friends; traveled the world; and through all the ups and downs of life kept counting her blessings with a positive attitude and strong faith.
She is survived by her son, Dale (Nancy) Rockey of Rock City and daughter, Linda (Rick) Elmer of Dakota.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, an infant son, brother Ivan Germain, Sister-in-Law Betty Germain, grandson Kerry Schlueter and step-daughter Paula Anderson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2022 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 2700 W Stephenson St, Freeport IL with a visitation prior from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Dakota Cemetery.
Memorial Funds have been established for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Parkview Home.
