Fern L. Veer, age 71 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Thursday, June 18, 2020. She was born on October 20, 1948; the daughter of Forrest Holden and Marion (Cooper) Shain.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Freeport and enjoyed crocheting.

Fern is survived by her former husband, John Veer of Strawberry, AR; sons, Keith (Carrie) Veer of Milledgville, IL and John Veer of Sterling, IL; daughter, Kelly Young of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Keigan Veer, John R. Veer, Jasmine Wittbecker, Destiny Wittbecker, Aliza Wittbecker, Jenessia Hart, Christa Young, Josh Young, and Matthew Young; sister, Loeta Shenberger; and brothers, Dennis Holden of Freeport and Earl (Georgette) Holden of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her father, Forrest Holden; mother, Marion Shain; step-father, Myron Shain; brothers, William, Gary, Bobbie (Robert), and Lyle; and sisters, Vivian and Linda.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name. A private graveside service will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
