Ferne R. Euler, 91, of Freeport, passed away in the loving arms of her daughter, Karen, on Saturday, August 29, 2015, in her home.

Born November 11, 1923 in Pearl City she was the daughter of Edward and Effie (Bartelt) Kampmeier.

Ferne graduated from Northern Illinois University with a teaching certificate. She taught country schools near Pearl City and grade school in Cedarville until her marriage. She taught private kindergarten in Lena during the early 1960s.

She married Curtis Mellentine September 10, 1946. She then married Paul Euler June 20, 1971 and he preceded her in death May 13, 2014.

Surviving are her children, daughter, Karen Wolfrom of Freeport; her sons Michael (Katherine) Mellentine of Chandler, Arizona, and Mark (Marti) Mellentine of Shelby, North Carolina; her step son, Paul (Diane) Euler, Jr. of Houston, Minnesota; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 3 brothers.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Walker Mortuary.

A memorial has been established for our local Salvation Army.
