Floyd E. Linneman, 93 of Freeport died Thursday January 22, 2009 at the Manor Court in Freeport after a brief illness. He was born October 10, 1915 at Baileyville and was the son of Fred and Ella (Meiners) Linneman. Floyd began working at Burgess Battery, the WFJS radio station in Freeport and then for WTVO Channel 17 in Rockford until his retirement. A United States Army Veteran, his memberships included Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles, Elks and Moose clubs.
He is survived by one nephew Dennis (Pam) Manus of Freeport; great niece Krista (Manus) Lantz of Tucson, AZ; and his long time companion Mina Gotham of Freeport. They enjoyed dinning and dancing at many of the local clubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Elma Marcella Manus.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at Walker Mortuary with the Rev. Richard Schultz officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be in the Cranes Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
