Francis "Fran" Carlino , age 91 of Freeport, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Allure of Mt. Carroll. He was born on March 12, 1933 in Elizabeth, NJ to Francis S. Carlino and Marie K. Babish. Fran married Edna M. (Julius) Kriens on September 26, 1958; she passed on January 26, 2017. He was a 1951 graduate of Dakota High School.

Francis served in the United States Army. After serving his country he was an agent for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was also a licensed barber who owned and operated Francis Barber Shop in Freeport and Cedarville. Together with his wife, they owned and operated Freeport Cycle Center as well as real estate rental properties.

His memberships include the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club. Together, Fran and Edna enjoyed boating and traveling.

He is survived by his two daughters, Peggy (John) Smith and Teresa (Mike) John; step-daughter, Julie Behan and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna and step-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Runte.

A family graveside service with Military Honors will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be shared with his family at www.walkermortuary.com.
