Francis E. Dornink, 79, retired farmer and Dakota school bus driver and bus maintenance supervisor of Dakota passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 in his home. He was born November 9, 1935 in Freeport, IL, the son of Galen and Lera (Griffin) Dornink. He was 1953 graduate of Dakota High School. On August 6, 1955 he married Joan Karlene Wenger at Dakota. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2014. He and Karlene were lifetime farmers in the Dakota area. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1955-57. Francis was a member of the St. Paul Church of Epleyanna, the Illinois and Wisconsin Flying Farmers, Stephenson County Farm Bureau, the Soil and Water Conservation and the Dakota Lions Club serving as an Officer and on various committees of the club. Surviving are his three sons Randall (Dina) Dornink of Polo, David (Jodie Venditti) Dornink of Dakota and Brian (Lori) Dornink of Freeport; nine grandchildren Jason (Kevin Collins) Dornink, Charity (Pete) Rhode, Josh (Dianna) Dornink, Chris Dornink, Kyle Dornink, Kendra (Josh) Rowe, Tug Dornink, Kirby (Jaime) Dornink and Kacie Dornink; five great grandchildren, Haleigh, Aubrie, Brody, Mason and Levi; two brothers, Ronald (Dona) Dornink and Richard (Colleen) Dornink both of Freeport; nieces and nephew. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, daughter-in-law Connie, and brother Daryl. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna, Davis. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Church with Reverend Dick Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the St. Paul Church Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name.
