Obituary

Frederic A. "Fritz" Neyhart, 82 years old, of Freeport, died peacefully on June 23, 2014. Born May 23, 1932 in Freeport the son of Louise Albright and Carl Neyhart. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1950 and went on to a successful academic career, culminating in a Master of Arts Degree from Northwestern University in Speech Education in 1956. He married Carrietta Rains in 1954. They were married 20 years until her death from cancer in 1974. Fritz taught and coached public speaking and debate at several universities, ending his career as a claims examiner for Economy Fire and Casualty Company in Freeport. Fritz was a long time member of Grace Episcopal Church and, recently of United Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Freeport Golden Kiwanis Club. He served as a hospice and hospital chaplain volunteer in Freeport and in Indianapolis, Indiana for many years. Surviving are his daughters Carlynn Higbie of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Sarah Louise Neyhart (Jon McCoy) of Tacoma, WA; grandsons, Timothy (Amy) Dale of La Cross, WI, Ryan (Anna) Dale, Milwaukee, WI, Nathan McCoy, Portland, OR, and Andrew McCoy, Seattle, WA. There are two great grandchildren, Ellia and Ian Dale of La Cross, WI. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on August 19, 2014, at United Presbyterian Church with a gathering of friends and family at the church following the service. The committal will be private for the family.
