Fredrick M. Huenefeld , age 72 of Apple River, IL, passed away at home on Thursday, February 18, 2021. He was born April 27, 1948 in Freeport, IL to Fredrick and Betty (Gerloff) Huenefeld. Fredrick married Carol Bardell on April 17, 1971.

He worked as an auto mechanic for Barkau Automotive in Cedarville, IL for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Huenefeld of Appel River, IL; mother, Betty Huenefeld of Adaline, IL; son, William (Marie) Huenefeld of Orangeville, IL; daughter, April (Brian) Reed of Orangeville, IL; grandson, Briar Huenefeld; step-grandson, Nick Reed; brothers, Robert (Lori) Huenefeld, Hank (Mary ) Huenefeld, Don Huenefeld, John (Martina) Huenefeld, and Edgar Huenefeld; sisters, Vicki (Larry) Page, Diane (Frank) Berogan, and Martha Huenefeld; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Butch; and sisters, Sue and Nancy.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, IL. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
