Gabriel "Gabe" Goldsmith, 43, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

A decorated Army veteran, Gabe honorably served his country through three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, achieving the rank of Sergeant (SGT – E5).

Gabe loved being a dad to his only child, Patrick. He treasured their time together playing video games and sharing his passion for fantasy, history, science fiction, anime, cosplay, and all types of flights of fancy. Gabe was extremely proud of Patrick's accomplishments, but most especially of his son's artwork and creative spirit.

Married in 2016, Gabe shared the last 10 years of his life with his beloved wife, Paula. Finding each other by chance, they instantly found in each other a sense of belonging, comfort, and companionship that carried them through times both joyous and challenging. Through it all, they had each other to turn to. As Paula stated many times, "He is my rock."

Gabe held a strong sense of justice and believed in a life of service; to his country, his family, his friends, and all those he cared for. He was always the first in line to defend, protect, and help those in need in any way he could.

A lifelong geek, Gabe was an avid multi-genre gamer and enjoyed the adventure of travel, Civil War re-enactments (both participating and watching), and a good detective story. He loved attending live-action games, regional renaissance fairs and events, gaming conventions, going to the movies, and celebrating the holidays (especially Halloween).

He will forever be remembered for his fierce loyalty to those he loved, his generosity of time and spirit, his delicious cooking, weapon skills, sharp wit, and wicked sense of humor. His energy and presence will be greatly missed at home, at the game table, and anywhere those who knew him gather.

He is survived by the love of his life Paula Goldsmith, his beloved son Patrick Goldsmith, his mother Patricia Turnham, and sisters Cat Turnham and Megan Goldsmith. Gabe is preceded in death by his father George Goldsmith.
