Gary L. Plowman , age 70 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Thursday, August 30, 2018. He was born December 10, 1947; the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (McAuliffe) Plowman and special parents, Clarence & Lois McIlvanie. He was a 1966 graduate of Aquin High School in Freeport. Gary married Sandra Fry on April 3, 1971.

Gary served in the Army from 1967-1969. He retired from Nicor Gas in 2003 after 33 years. Gary loved the outdoors; camping, hunting, and fishing, especially when he was with his family. He could fix anything and was a great woodworker. He also had a passion for restoring old muscle cars.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Plowman of Freeport; sons, Kenny (Lynne), Mark (Sherrie), and Joel all of Freeport; grandchildren, Jalen, Kyla, Grant, Drake, and Ayanna; special brothers, Steve (Marilee) McIlvanie, Tim McIlvanie, and Mike (Patti) McIlvanie; and cousins, Linda and Marilyn. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margie (Ronnie) Brown. Numerous nephews and nieces were also a part of Gary's life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Dorothy; special parents, Clarence & Lois McIlvanie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stanley & Ardale Fry; brother-in-law, Duane Fry; and cousin, Scott McIlvanie.
