Obituary
Freeport-Gene W. Babcock, 74, of Freeport, died Sunday September 7, 2003, at the Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center in Freeport.
Born December 17, 1928 in Lena he was the son of Eber and Elta (Staver) Babcock. He married Marion Long July 16, 1955 and she died January 7, 1997.
He worked at Twin Disc in Rockford for 32 years.
An avid golfer he collected stamps, coins, and sport cards.
Surviving are one daughter, Diana (Dale) Paul of Belvidere; two sons, David (Laura) Babcock of Stillman Valley and Jim (Penny) Babcock of Beaver Creek, Ohio; two brothers, Royce Babcock and Clyde (Dorothy) Babcock both of Loves Park; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; three brothers, Irvin, Glenn, and Harold.
Funeral services and burial will be Monday 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Monday 10 a.m. until time of service at the Chapel of Peace in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials have been established for Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center and Freeport Memorial Hospice.
