Genelda "Nelda" Gene Miller Baker, 96, of Freeport, died Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Manor Court.
Born July 10, 1920 in Freeport she was the daughter of Clyde and Frieda (Blank) Gillette. She married Wayne Miller in January of 1939 and he preceded her in death. She married Howard Baker in August of 1988 and he preceded her in death.
Nelda worked for J.C. Penney for 30 years.
She was a member of Cedarville United Methodist Church in Cedarville.
Surviving are her children, Dixie (Fernand) Cline Plourde of Rochelle and Kathy (Michael) Davis of Orlando, Florida; her daughter-in-law, Norine (Stu) Miller Dailey of Freeport; her grandchildren, Michael (Leatha) Cline, Cathy (John) Overstreet, Lisa (Greg) Cole, Stacey (Jim) Brown, Steven (Sonja) Miller, Christopher (Meghann) Davis, Trevor Davis, Amanda (Joey) Davis Jacobs; several great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; her son, Terry Miller; 1 sister, Elaine; and 1 brother, Bill.
Nelda loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all the Bakers. She loved her special friend, Don Hess of Freeport.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday August 8, 2016, at Cedarville United Methodist Church in Cedarville. Burial will be in the Cedarville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
