George E. Craft, 91, of Freeport died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford. Born May 30, 1919 at Mt. Clemens, Mich, he was the son of Henry and Grace (Langfield) Craft. He and Catherine Colin were united in marriage on November 7, 1947. She preceded him in death in November of 1990. George was a watchmaker and jeweler in Stockton and the Elizabeth area for many years prior to moving to Freeport. He worked for Structo, Kelly Springfield and retired from Newell in 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Joy Singers and was an army veteran of WWII. George is survived by two daughters Jane (Randy) Alford of Hamilton, Mont.; Carol (Michael) Avey of Freeport; 3 sons Jonathan (Linda) Craft of Las Vegas, Nev.; Joel (Carol) Craft of Dover, N.H., Mark (Jo) Craft of Carmel, Ind.; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; 4 brothers Truman Craft, Tom (Marilyn) Craft, Donald Craft, Martin (Ruth) Craft; 4 sisters Ruth Schonshack, Alma Scheele, Marjorie (Earl) Green, Amy Debouis. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter Esther, 3 brothers John, H. Stanley and Robert; 2 sisters Emily and Florence. .
