Freeport
George W. Diddens, 84, of Freeport, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born April 2, 1926 in Freeport he was the son of Henry and Blanche (Bloyer) Diddens. He married Polly A. Wootan July 4, 1948.
He was a WWII Navy veteran.
His memberships include Trinity United Methodist Church and the VFW.
George worked at W.T. Rawleigh for 25 years and then at Furst McNess for 15 years retiring in 1988.
Surviving is his wife, Polly of Freeport; 2 daughters, Georgia (Kip) Miller of Centralia and Nancy Sladky of Augusta, Georgia ; 1 son Richard (Doreen) Diddens of Madison, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas Diddens, Alexandra and Drew Sladky, Danielle and Will Miller, 3 sisters, Helen Winters, Marion Myers, and Doris Shain all of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister; and 1 grandchild.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be at Trinity United Methodist Church Friday, July 30th, 2010 at 11 a.m.. Interment of his cremated remains will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Trinity United Methodist Church.
