George Baptiste, 86, of Freeport, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at his home in Freeport.
Born May 2, 1923 in Calcutta, India he was the son of John Gernier and Phoebe Jane (Dacosta) Baptiste.
George was a retired accountant.
He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Surviving are his brother, Samuel Baptiste of Toronto, Canada; his nephews, Michael Baptiste of Freeport, Christopher Baptiste of Toronto, Canada; his niece, Marie Therese Watts of Toronto, Canada; his niece in-law, Deborah (Larry) Stenstrom of Freeport; great grand nieces and nephews, Christopher and Timothy Watts, Blaise, Marissa, Aubrey, and Tyne Baptiste, Jenna (Lance) Leverton, Jeremy (Ashley) Dietmeier, and Tania (fiancé Kurt Balles) Dietmeier.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 nephew.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Reverend Manuel Recera officiating. Entombment of his cremated remains will the in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
