George J. Jacobs, 92, of Freeport, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph in Freeport.
Born June 7, 1922, in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John and Lillian (Fegley) Jacobs. He married Helen Milligan in 1948 and she preceded him in death March 8, 1996. He was a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific with the Marine Corp. A graduate of the Wharton Business School, George was employed by General Electric and Brown Instruments, retiring from Honeywell as Manager of Employee Relations in 1984. Surviving are his son, Dale (Rebecca) Jacobs of Freeport; his grandchildren, Heather (Bryan) Schweigert of Lanark, Adam Jacobs of Freeport; three great grandchildren, Christian Jacobs, Nathan Witt, and Natanna Jacobs all of Lanark. Also preceding him in death were his parents and four siblings. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private, family only, services will be held.
