George E. Midthun, 84, of Freeport, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born March 18, 1925 in Freeport he was the son of Martin and Elizabeth (Smith) Midthun. He married Alice Sager in 1944.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He worked at W T Rawleigh until his retirement. After his retirement he worked at the VFW.
Surviving is his wife, Alice; 1 brother, Robert (Ruth) Midthun; and 1 sister, Martha "Dolly" Fissell all of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter; 1 son; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Funeral service will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend John Hollis of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday 10 a.m. until time of service at the Mortuary.
