George J. Ratkovich Jr., 66 of Freeport formerly of Lombard died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born August 6, 1946 at Oak Park, he was the son of George Sr. and Gladys (Stack) Ratkovich.
On April 15, 1967 he and Patricia L. Ailene were united in marriage at the Mary Queen of Heaven in Cicero. He owned his own upholstery shop in Lombard for many years and was a master at his craft.
He enjoyed bowling, watching the Cubs, listening to WGN Radio and spending time with his family.
George was a member of the American Bowling Congress and the Freeport Moose Lodge.
He worked at Immanuel Lutheran School for eight years.
He is survived by his mom, Gladys Ratkovich of Lombard; wife of 46 years, Patricia Ratkovich of Freeport; sister Mary Lou (Gordon) Zaremba of Lombard; two sons: Brian (Marianne) Ratkovichof Virginia and Bob Ratkovich of Villa Park; one daughter Tricia (Ron) Halter of Freeport; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father George J. Ratkovich, Sr.
A celebration of George's life will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Freeport Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. Also on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Stardust Bowl, 37 East Lorraine Avenue, Addison, IL there will be a memorial gathering.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial fund has been established in his name.
