Gerald V. Lakota Sr., 79, of rural McConnell, died Saturday August 3, 2013 at his home.
Born February 13, 1934 in Chicago, he was the son of Valentine and Ruth (Brown) Lakota.
On August 18, 1953 he and Patricia Zapalla were united in marriage.
He was retired from Goodyear and enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of McConnell; one son Gerald (Nicolet Ludewig) Lakota Jr. of Freeport; son-in-law Roger Shultz of Rock City; five grandchildren Nicole (Chris) Kovarik of Rockton, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Heiden of Freeport, Courtney, Levi, Nicholas Lakota all of Freeport; seven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, one daughter Pam Shultz, brother and sister.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of Gerald's life will take place at his granddaughter's home at 12158 Old River Road, Rockton, IL from 3-10 p.m. Saturday August 10, 2013.
