Gerald Jean Pointer, 90, of Freeport, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born June 22, 1921 in Abingdon he was the son of Rolland and Alma (Berterman) Pointer. He married Florence Judith Anderson on November 23, 1947 and she died November 9, 1992. He married Lois R. Brinkmeier Boeke August 15, 1996.
Gerald was an Army WWII veteran.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Freeport and the VFW.
He worked for the Quaker Oats Company.
Surviving are his wife, Lois of Freeport; his step- children, Marilyn (Jim) Thoren and William C. Boeke Jr. both of Freeport, Scott (Cheryl) Boeke of Scioto Mills, Bradley Boeke of Perry Ohio, Neal (Lisa) Boeke of Juda Wisconsin, and Norman (Gwen) Boeke of Janesville, Wisconsin; his son in-law, Roger Koch of Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife; and his step-daughter, Kathleen.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rockford.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Freeport. Following the service there will be a gathering for family and friends with lunch included. All are welcome.
