Freeport-Gerald R. Sager, 66, of Freeport, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born April 21, 1940 in Freeport he was the son of Simon and Dalmantha (Lower) Sager. He married Carol M. Siedschlag April 25, 1964 in Juda, Wisconsin.
A machinist, Gerald worked at Twin Disc in Rockford and Anchor Harvey in Freeport.
He was an avid sportsman and reader who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Carol of Freeport; four sons, Gary (Sue) Sager of Forest City, Iowa, William Sager of Freeport, Timothy (Michelle) Sager and Steven (Nicole) Sager both of Waverly, Iowa; one sister, Carol Raetz of Freeport; 10 grandchildren, Jerica, Simon, Alyssa, A.J., Emily, Andrew, Abbi, Megan, Paul, and Gabrielle Sager.
His parents; 2 sisters, Joyce Reuber and Linda Reed; 3 brothers, Harold, Raymond, and James Sager preceded him in death.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Gerald's memorial service will be June 10th, 2006 3:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary with Chaplain Don Swanson officiating. There will be a gathering for friends and family before the service from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary on June 10th.
Internment of his cremated remains will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established for the Diabetes Association.
